The Medical’s private GP service provides professional patient care, treatment & advice to individuals, families and businesses. Our service offers a more flexible alternative to the NHS, there's no need to register and there's usually same-day appointments available.
Our GP service is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, so it's easy to make a convenient appointment. Good parking and public transport links are available at our GP healthcare centre locations
Our patients have direct access to the very best in private healthcare services enabling you and your family to get the right advice when needed through independent opinion and if necessary specialist referral. We pride ourselves on offering outstanding patient care from the moment an enquiry is made, until a solution is found.
The Medical is regulated by the government's healthcare watchdog, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who assesses whether a healthcare centre is safe, caring and responsive to the patients' needs. This means that The Medical is regulated to the same standards as your NHS GP or hospital, so you can be assured you will receive care of the highest standard.
Our GPs are all registered with the General Medical Council (GMC) and members of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP). They work to the highest UK medical standards and are experienced in NHS as well as private healthcare practice. We have both male and female GPs so that our patients can choose if they have a preference.
We have been awarded the 'Clinic Management Quality Mark' and the 'Patient Practice Quality Mark' for clinical excellence and consistently exceeding our customers' expectations. The Medical is also accredited by all major insurance providers.
The Medical (Temple Quay)'s current CQC rating is Overall Requires Improvement (name of rated service: Doctors/GPs). The most recent inspection report was 21/05/2019. Find more information on The Medical's CQC rating here. Click here to visit the CQC homepage.
GP appointments at The Medical last longer than NHS appointments, ensuring that you get the most from your consultation. There is also the option of booking a double appointment if you’d like even more time.
If you wish to discuss more than one health issue, we recommend booking a double appointment, which is twice the length of a standard consultation. This will enable our GPs to give you the time that you require to discuss how you’re feeling and whether treatment is needed.
We also require a double consultation if you are using an interpreter as we want to make sure we fully understand the problem.
A double appointment at The Medical is still cheaper than a standard consultation at Bupa, Nuffield or the Spire.
GP consultations are available in-clinic or over the telephone and cost just £75.
If you are unsure whether we can help with your health issue or perform the procedure you require, please ask one of our receptionists and they will put a GP in contact with you.
Our GPs can write private prescriptions and repeat prescriptions. A selection of medicines are stocked on-site at the doctors surgery, so you can leave your consultation with your medication. Otherwise you can take your prescription to a pharmacy of your choice.
You will be charged an additional £20 for our doctors to write a prescription. The majority of our medications cost just £8, which is cheaper than an NHS prescription. Our GPs can also write letters/sick notes. These services cost £20.
