Sick Notes at The Medical

The Medical’s private GP service provides an alternative to the NHS. By limiting the number of registered patients, we can usually see patients on the same day if you book before 1pm.

Our GP service is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Friday, so it's easy to make a convenient appointment. Good parking and public transport links are available at our GP healthcare centre locations.

A sick note costs just £20, in addition to the GP consultation fee.

Why us?

More time with the doctor

GP appointments at The Medical last longer than NHS appointments, ensuring that you get the most from your consultation and it is not rushed. There is also the option of booking a double appointment if you’d like even more time.

GP consultations are available in-clinic or over the phone and cost £65.

If you wish to discuss more than one health issue, we recommend booking a double appointment, which is twice the length of a standard consultation. This will enable our GPs to give you the time that you require to discuss how you’re feeling and whether treatment is needed.

We also require a double consultation if you are using an interpreter, as we want to make sure we fully understand the problem.

A double appointment at The Medical is still cheaper than a standard consultation at Bupa, Nuffield or the Spire.

If you are unsure whether we can help with your health issue or perform the procedure you require, please ask one of our receptionists and they will put a GP in contact with you.

Please be aware that our service is not suitable for the following patients:

  • Women who are or may be pregnant
  • Adults with a safeguarding need
  • People living with complex mental health conditions
  • People with complex physical, psychological and social needs
  • People living with dementia
  • Older people with conditions related to frailty
  • People requiring end of life care
  • Parents of children who are on the ‘child at risk’ protection register
  • People with learning difficulties
  • People with drug dependence

We are regulated to the same standards as your NHS GP

The Medical is approved by the government's healthcare watchdog, the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who assesses whether a healthcare centre is safe, caring and responsive to the patients' needs. This means that The Medical is regulated to the same standards as your NHS GP or hospital, so you can be assured you will receive care of the highest standard.
