The right diagnosis, the best treatment, unbeatable results

Our osteopaths are trained to diagnose, treat, manage and prevent musculoskeletal problems (bones, joints, and muscles), as well as the effects these disorders can have on the nervous system and general health.

They have a specialist interest in neck and back pain, but when they assess patients, they take their entire physical, emotional and social wellbeing into account.

The Medical blends a unique range of scanning technology, with world-leading 3D movement analysis to ensure that our expert osteopaths have the information required to make an accurate diagnosis exceptionally quickly.

Our treatment plans are tailored to individual needs, based on the diagnosis. Our first objective is to relieve any pain, before maintaining the health of the spine. Our aim is to keep your body functioning in optimal condition so that you can get on with your life.

Progress reviews are used to monitor your improvement. We re-examine, re-test and re-scan where necessary, comparing the data with the information we gathered before your treatment started.

By making the right diagnosis, delivering the best treatment and accurately monitoring your progress, The Medical delivers exceptional results.

Step-by-step

Assessment

The Osteopath will begin by undertaking a thorough medical history and examination to diagnose your problem.

Scans

If necessary, we will undertake an X-ray or an 3D Movement Analysis in order to understand fully what's going on. Where we don't have facilities on-site, we will refer you to an external imaging partner.

Report of Findings and Treatment Plan

Having analysed the data from the assessment and scans, your osteopath will explain the diagnosis to you and how we're going to help.

Your osteopath will design a treatment plan that is specific to your needs. It will include an estimated recovery time, number of treatments and how to minimise the chances of the problem reoccurring. You will be provided with a printed copy of your plan to take away with you.

Our osteopathic treatment plans have two stages:

  1. Relief - treatment to relieve your pain
  2. Wellbeing - prevent the pain from reoccurring through spinal care, strength and conditioning

The best results are achieved by sticking to your treatment plan and listening to the advice from your osteopath.

If the osteopath feels that another member of our team would be better placed to help, they will refer you to them.

Treatment

The aim of the first stage is to begin a programme of treatment to relieve suffering. Your osteopath will work with you until your symptoms have resolved.

An osteopath may use a variety of different approaches, depending on your needs, to bring relief and improvement:

  • Soft tissue techniques
  • Manually moving the joint through its range of motion
  • Stretching muscles
  • Encouraging muscles to work against resistance
  • Spinal manipulation
  • Restoring balance and movement with gentle techniques

A small number of patients may experience discomfort after their treatment. This is to be expected and is an integral part of the natural healing process. The reaction is an adaption by the body to change and may only last a few hours or days.

If you ever have any questions, you can always contact your osteopath.

Progress Review

Having gone through a course of hands-on treatment, your osteopath will track your progress by re-testing your injury using the 3D Movement Analysis system. The results will be discussed with you and we'll decide next steps together.

Wellbeing

The focus has now switched to maintenance - we don't want your symptoms to come back! If you decide you want to take a more proactive approach, we will work with you and devise a focused, tailored plan to meet your specific needs.

Your osteopath will monitor your condition, maintain your body’s optimal function, prevent any setbacks and control any symptoms effectively if they arise.

The overall aim is to improve your body strength, flexibility, stability, balance and range of movement. Your chiropractor may introduce a number of different methods to achieve your aims including Pilates, exercise therapy and massage.
