Static & Dynamic Bike Fitting Services

What does static bike fitting involve?

The first stage of a static bike fit involves a physical examination to identify biomechanical problems, joint restrictions, tight muscles or areas of weakness that may affect your position on the bike.

Your practitioner will then place your bike on a turbo trainer in order to analyse your posture, inefficient movement patterns and factors relating to injury, as well as looking at the measurement of joint angles to optimise positioning.

The third stage includes adjustments to your bike position and an analysis of the effects. A static bike fit costs just £135.

Afterwards the practitioner will provide you with exercises and/or cycling drills and request a follow-up bike fit after 6-8 weeks if required. This costs £70.

After working on areas of flexibility and/or strength you may be able to tolerate a more aerodynamic position or you may be given a temporary set-up at your initial appointment while overcoming injury.

Who would benefit from a static bike fit?

Any cyclist looking to optimise their cycling position for improved performance, improved comfort, or to reduce the risk of injury would benefit from having a static bike fit.

Cyclists recovering from injuries that may be affected by poor positioning on their bike would also benefit.

What does dynamic bike fitting involve?

The first stage of a dynamic bike fit is a physical examination, designed to identify biomechanical problems, joint restrictions, tight muscles or areas of weakness that may affect your position on the bike.

Your bike will then be placed on a turbo trainer and Dartfish motion capture software is used to record you cycling. Using this slow motion video capture, your practitioner will be able to analyse your posture, inefficent movement patterns and factors relating to injury as well as looking at the measurement of joint angles to optimise positioning.

Adjustments will then be made to your bike position and the effects analysed. A dynamic bike fit costs just £185.

Exercises and/or cycling drills will be provided and a follow-up bike fit will be scheduled after 6-8 weeks if required. This costs £70.

After working on areas of flexibility and/or strength you may be able to tolerate a more aerodynamic position or you may be given a temporary set-up at your initial appointment while overcoming injury.

Who would benefit from a dynamic bike fitting?

Any cyclist looking to optimise their cycling position for improved performance, improved comfort, or to reduce the risk of injury would benefit from a dynamic bike fit. Those recovering from injuries that may be affected by poor positioning on the bike and those with more complex injuries, or elite cyclists looking for a more precise and detailed bike fit would also benefit from this sort of analysis.

What are the benefits of Dartfish motion capture?

The use of motion capture technology allows a more detailed analysis of movement through the use of slow motion footage. Joint angle measurements also have a greater level of accuracy as they are taken whilst you are cycling with your joints and muscles under load, rather than in static positions.
